58 days until the wedding, and we finally have a web site! We've talked
about doing this for months and months. I guess it took the promise of lifetime
commitment to give us a real excuse <smile>.
The invitations were mailed 2 days ago, so I imagine that many of you have
received them already. This site will continue to evolve, and will always
have the latest information for all of you. Check in to the site periodically
or drop us an e-mail (at the bottom of the page). We love hearing from all
of you.
The wedding is slowly coming into shape. We have the place, a caterer, photographer,
baker, florist, and a rabbi. What we really need is a honeymoon. We are
looking at warm places, but nothing is booked yet. I'll post our destination
when we have it!
See y'all in 2 months!

Wow. Thank you all for your kind words regarding our web site. We have
received some questions about how to contact our parents. Since both of
our Moms are now fully internet-enabled (go Moms!), here are their e-mail
addresses. I also added their e-mail links to the wedding
page. Feel free to contact them for any reason.

46 days until the wedding, and Kerin and I have somehow found ourselves
galloping around the country for work. Really, we have a wedding to plan.
Oy! Nevertheless, we are making significant progress. We have finally signed
a DJ. And reportedly a good one.
More importantly, we have booked a honeymoon. No, we are not fessing up
details yet, but rest assured that it will require a passport and lots of
suntan lotion. We are very excited!
We also need to pass on a request from our Rabbi. But before we do, I have
to tell you that he is a very funny guy (for example, he has two lawyers
-- one who does his will, and one who does his won't. OK, OK, now you know
my sense of humor). Anyway, he requests no flash photography during the
actual ceremony. There will be plenty of other photo-ops, don't worry.

OK, I got carried away again. Check out the new quiz
on our site. Kerin's aunt asked us to put together a bunch of questions
for some of the family. Of course we had way too much fun with it. And of
course a condensed version had to go on the web...
Also note the new real-time wedding countdown on the home
page. Kerin and I check it every day...
Wedding-wise, we are still making progress. We have menu selections, a ceremony,
a live trio for the ceremony, a ketubah, and we've even received a few gifts
(fun!).
Now if I can only preserve a few brain cells while at the bachelor party...
October 4, 2000
Oh my! Exactly one month until the wedding! Although both of us are very
excited, panic is starting to set in. So much to do, and so little time...
We are down to the gazillion little tiny details that never seem to go away.
We need a detail exterminator!
For those of you who are staying at the Sheraton. Please let us know if
you have any trouble making reservations. There have been some mix-ups at
the hotel, but everything is supposed to be resolved.
Regarding the quiz, a few of you were surprised that
it didn't provide overall statistics, rankings, and such. Jeesh! I thought
I already was going overboard. I'll get right on that. Really...
Also, as of a few days ago, we have had over 100 unique visitors come to
our site! Webby Awards, here we come <grin>.
And in case any of you are wondering, I did survive my bachelor party, only
a few brain cells short.
October 11, 2000
Three and a half weeks to the wedding and only six more weeks of stuff to
do! No problem...
Well, we've been busy. We've designed a cake (in the shape of a 737 ...
just kidding). The bridesmaid dresses have all arrived and been distributed.
We are picking out the DJ music and working on the seating arrangements.
We have our first dance. We've written our vows (Do you? I do!). Kerin's
Dad and Brother built an amazing chuppah (but of course).
Speaking of chuppahs -- Kerin came up with a really nice idea. The covering
for the chuppah will be the veil my Mom wore at my parents' wedding. But
wait, there's more. The kiddush cup will be the one used by Kerin's parents
at their wedding. Nice touches.
The web site is staying active as well. We've had over 150 unique visitors
now. Several friends and family have told us that they are checking it weekly.
Thanks again for playing with us!
And one last thing -- I've heard rumors that Kerin has a Bachelorette party
coming up, but I can't get anyone to admit anything. I'm sure it is just
a rumor...
October 18, 2000
I think it just hit us. In 17 days we are actually getting married. It's
a good thing we really like each other!
We are pretty sure that we are starting to see the light at the end of
the tunnel. Kerin had her final dress fitting (I have *no* idea what it
looks like, but I hear it is stunning). Her veil (which she designed)
is finished. The groomsmen finally ordered their tuxes (to quote one of
them -- "we are a deadline driven crowd"). We've also received
all of the responses ... well ... there are a couple left to go ... but
close enough. Looks like we will have between 115 and 120 people. Not
too big, not too small, just right!
So Kerin and I were rethinking the whole wedding vow thing. This is where
it ended up (for me anyway):
 |
I
promise to always know that I'm wrong, you're right, and I'm sorry. |
 |
I
know that what's mine is yours and what's yours is yours. |
 |
I
promise to remember that you know how to use the remote control. |
 |
I
promise to always keep my body temperature higher than yours and to
keep you warm. |
 |
I
promise to always take care of spiders, lightbulbs, and garbage. |
Maybe we'll just stick with what we had (Kerin wanted me to add that she
isn't really this mean)...
One last learning experience. I innocently submitted this site to Yahoo
to make it easier for friends and family to find us (you can search for
"megibow" now! try it!). Well ... apparently with Yahoo's 30 gazillion
hits a day, a few are going to end up here. In our case, we've had over
four-hundred visits since we were added 5 days ago. The web never ceases
to amaze me. And to our anonymous friends -- thanks for stopping by!
October 30, 2000
There's no turning back now! This time next week, we'll be married people!
Weird.
First off, pictures. Yes, I know that we need a lot more on our web page.
Kerin and I just completed a photo-montage of our pasts, so you will be
able to see many more in person. We found similar pictures of us as babies
and toddlers, in outfits from little league to prom, and so on. It was
fun. I will post some of the more interesting pictures on the web site
*after* the wedding. Of course we will get wedding and honeymoon shots
up here as well.
Ants. Not those cute little guys distributed by Disney. I'm talking about
the real creepy-crawly ones. Apparently they felt left out of the wedding
planning and stopped by to help out this weekend. Just in time for Halloween.
They brought their whole town with them too. Downstairs, upstairs, wherever.
But there they were. And despite their best intentions, they didn't help
us out at all!! We thought they might of at least grabbed a bottle of
wine and carried it down to Burlingame for us. You know, when I said that
we had a gazillion little details to contend with, this was not what I
had in mind...
Despite the fact that Kerin has been freaking-out over this wedding event
for the last three months, it didn't really hit me until last Friday.
I suddenly realized that we are about to entertain 120 people at someone
else's house. It was a nice change for Kerin to tell me to calm down instead
of the other way around. Anyway, there is definitely light at the end
of the tunnel. Kerin and I can't wait for the weekend. See you all real
soon!
October 23, 2000
It happened this morning. On the way to work, the question came up, "Aren't
we supposed talk about if we are sure about this?" Ack! We both agreed
we just won't talk about the wedding anymore. Maybe we can just focus
on our upcoming honeymoon...
So anyway back to the wedding (that didn't last long) -- Kerin and her
bridesmaids each get a point for bamboozling me this weekend. Kerin was
picked up early in the morning for what I was guessing was her Bachelorette
party (no one had fessed-up yet). The big van outside was a good clue.
But when they called me from the airplane, to let me know that everything
was OK, the proverbial penny had dropped. They called again from somewhere
north (Canada??), to let me know that she would be home late. Or so I
thought. Turns out they were at a super luxury spa -- no airplane required.
Ha ha. I guess there is more than one way to get male entertainment during
a Bachelorette party...
From the details department -- We finally finished the list of songs for
the DJ. It was time consuming, but kind of fun to go through every song
of the last 4 decades. Don't worry, we will have a Macarena free wedding.
We also worked out some of the final details with the caterer. It turns
out that our main course was just served to the King and Queen of Romania.
They ate every bite, and complemented our caterer. I'm not sure what the
point is, but I thought I'd pass on that tidbit.
November 3, 2000
Tomorrow's the day! Out-of-towners are showing up by the minute. Kerin
and I are racing around like crazed weasels taking care of last minute
details. Lara (the Maid of Honor) has literally moved in with us (thanks
Lara!). It's a good thing, because I'm not even sure either of us can
remember each other's name at the moment...
We are about to head down to Burlingame to start setting up. See you all
on the other side!
-Joe Megibow and Kerin Guetersloh (single for the last time)
November 6, 2000
We did it! The wedding went off without a hitch (OK, I guess *we* got
hitched...). Everything was wonderful. Kerin looked like an angel, the
place was beautiful, the rabbi funny, the food delicious, the cake was
scrumptious, the DJ didn't play a bad tune, and the photographer was kind
and unobtrusive. Many, many people came together to create something special
for Kerin and me. I can't express how fortunate and loved we feel. We
only hope that all of you had as good a time as we did!
There probably won't be any updates until we get back from our honeymoon
in a few weeks. In the meantime, here are a few preliminary snapshots:

We're back! What a trip! Kerin and I had a fantastic time in Tahiti. For
those of you who did not hear, we went on a 10-day cruise to five islands
in French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea, Huahine, Raiatea) and then
stayed a few more days at a local resort. I can't believe we came home...
The cruise itself was wonderful. We hooked up with five other newlyweds
and did almost everything with them (OK, not everything). We rented scooter
cars, snorkeled, scuba-dived, parasailed, beached, hiked, and of course
relaxed a lot.
For you picture hounds, I've just posted about 150 pictures from the honeymoon,
so that should keep you all busy for a while. The site where they are posted
allows you to order high-quality prints for yourself if you like.

(click
for photos!)
We also received our wedding pictures a couple of days ago. They are great
(and we are so relieved). You just never know until you see them... I will
scan a bunch and get them up here soon.
Finally, a big precursory thanks to everyone for all the great gifts and
cards. We began the thank-you note process this week. They will all make
it out soon.
